Parents Association
Here at Merryhills we are very proud of our Parents’ Association. We are a support and social network for parents to build a stronger sense of community and our aim is to raise funds for the extras for the school to enhance our children’s education.
We support the school through our fundraising and social events and foster good relations between parents and everyone associated with the school. School is a welcoming place and taking part in PA events is a good way to make friends across the school community whilst supporting the school.
The team is made up of a group of hardworking, dedicated volunteers of parents and staff who meet approximately once a month. They arrange a variety of events throughout the school year with the main ones being the Christmas Bazaar and our very popular Summer Fete.
All parents/carers are automatically members of our PA and are very welcome to attend our meetings. Whether you take an active part is, of course, your decision. Not everyone can afford the time to attend meetings but the children do enjoy seeing their parents take part in school life. Any little bit of help is worth an enormous amount – from wrapping, baking, shopping, supporting events to helping out at the bazaar/fete helps turn the engine of the Parents’ Association.
The money raised goes towards school trips, workshops from visiting companies, playground equipment to name a few. We have recently had new lighting, staging and sound system put in. We also paid for the whiteboards in the classrooms.
It is important for OUR children to benefit from their time here at Merryhills and take happy memories with them when they move on. This is YOUR school and the more WE do as parents/carers the more OUR children will benefit.
