Penny Deller (Chair of Governors)
Parent Governor since September 2007, Chair since 2008, working closely with the Headteacher to carry out any duties delegated by the governing body. Has a presence in school, attends school functions, works with the local authority, is accessible to other governors, staff and parents and meets governors from other schools.
Parent Governor for more than eight years, member of the Resources Committee and Chair of the Progress and Attainment Committee. Currently Lead for Curriculum and co-governor for children with special educational needs and co-governor overseeing literacy in the curriculum.

Co opted Governor since March 2016. Has a child currently at Merryhills and a husband who attended in the 80’s. Has a Masters in Psychology and has worked in Middle and Secondary schools for over 16 years. Experienced Mathematics Teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator.
I have a child in Year 4 and has been a parent governor since 2016. Working as a scientist for The Francis Crick Institute, I am passionate about promoting science at school. To this end, I have been delivering science workshops during Science Week to different year groups in the last 2 years. Currently I am a member of Leadership and Management Team.
Richard Hudson – Headteacher
I have worked in education for more than 30 years, including 20 years at Merryhills Primary School. My three children attended local primary and secondary schools. I have a strong connection with education in the local area from working within higher and primary education. I am passionate about Merryhills and feel I want to support the school’s continued success in my role as a Co-opted Governor. I have two children in Merryhills in Year 4 and 2 and I have been a parent governor since March 2018. I have an established career in Human Resources and I’m currently working as Director of People for a charity, based in Hertfordshire. I strongly believe that the people are the greatest asset of any organisation and by positively inputting in to the workforce strategy, I can contribute to the continued success of Merryhills to develop our children to their full potential. I’m currently a member of the Leadership and Management as well as the Outcomes teams.
I have been a Co-opted Governor at Merryhills since 2017. I worked for 18 years as a deputy head teacher in a local secondary school and am recently retired. My main areas of interest and expertise are child welfare and care as well as teaching and learning.
I have been the Resident Site Manager for the past 15 years, having previously carried out the same roll at another two primary schools within the London Borough Of Enfield.
I am presently the Schools Health & Safety Representative and undergone many successful audits in that time.I was elected as a Staff Governor in June 2019 and presently on the Wellbeing Committee
I have worked in various educational settings for over twenty years supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I bring lots of experience in child safeguarding, multi-agency working and prioritising the need of children. I am a child and adolescent counsellor and I am passionate about children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing
